 HEAT ** No 1 Killer of Rabbits

Summer heat stroke

Place a thermometer in the hutch to check

what temperature the bunny is really in.

The forecast temperature may be much lower than

the actual temperature in the hutch

Over 23 deg.= Give total shade.

Over 28 deg.= Give frozen water bottles.

Over 32 deg.= Bring bunny inside.

* Move hutch into sheltered position

* Give constant supply of fresh cool water.

* Frozen water bottles or freezer mats for bunny to sit next to.

This will reduce the hutch temperature by a couple of degrees.

 

* Drape hutch with wet towels.

* Spray hutch with cold water.

* Wet the rabbits’ ears

* Staple shade cloth to hutch

* Remember that in the wild rabbits keep cool

deep down in their burrows during the heat

of the day.
